About the Circuit

Located on Île Notre-Dame in the St. Lawrence River, the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is a semi-permanent circuit using public roads. Known for its stop-start nature with heavy braking zones followed by acceleration, it's brutal on brakes and rewards engine power. The infamous 'Wall of Champions' at the final chicane has claimed many victims over the years. The 2026 edition adds a Sprint format to the weekend for the first time.

The opening left-right flick named after Ayrton Senna. A flat-out commitment corner that sets up the run down to the first heavy braking zone.

The slow right-hand hairpin at the far end of the circuit — the slowest corner of the lap and a key overtaking spot under heavy braking.
Turns 13–14Wall of Champions

The final chicane, infamous for catching out world champions including Schumacher, Hill, and Villeneuve in 1999. The exit wall lies just inches from the racing line.
